SCi is one of the longest established software developers and publishers in the UK and one of the few independent companies in the games industry.
Founded in 1988 by the current CEO Jane Cavanagh, SCi has developed and published for every major platform including Playstation, Nintendo N64, Game Boy Colour, PC CD-ROM and Mac. The company's innovative product range (with smash hits such as the Carmageddon range, SWIV and Lawnmower Man) and strong management have created a highly successful and very dynamic organisation capable of reacting rapidly to the ever changing market conditions. In 1996, this success resulted in a London Stock Exchange listing.
Part of SCi's success can be attributed to the strength of it's distribution world-wide. Indeed, with products being sold in over 60 different countries world-wide, SCi's distribution network is impressive. The strategic alliances are based on the principle of flexibility, allowing SCi to work with those distributors best suited to both the country and the product. Consequently, sales of each product across each one of the platforms are maximised to the full. This was best highlighted when Carmageddon became a number one hit world-wide. SCi has built on this with the commercially successful releases of Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now, Spellcross, Frenzy and Live Wire.
With its head office based in London, SCi also has development studios in southern England. Numerous strategic alliances with development companies from around the world coupled with the internal development studios have secured an impressive portfolio of products.
As we move towards Christmas 1999, SCi are looking forward to its most commercially successful period ever. Carmageddon TDR 2000 and Titanium Angels (both due for release in the year 2000) have the potential (and the ground-breaking technology), to take SCi to new heights. The next 12 months will see a number of key announcements that are certain to take the market by storm further enhancing SCi's reputation.
